Oh man! I am super impressed (and grateful) to you for mapping out what it really takes now…but also a bit exhausted just reading it, let alone doing it!

This is part of what worries me about The Algorithm Era. We’re all so oversubscribed and over-networked that we are exhausted by the sheer volume of updates and stories we see. The Algorithm comes to rescue us from the volume, and so we can’t actually reach our friends any more, so then we have to do all this crazy cross-posting just to be able to do the thing that we all signed up for in the first place: sharing ideas and conversations with our friends. We are in an arms race with The Algorithm because as soon as we find ways to get around it, it adjusts, and so we have to do ever-more posting to get ever-less real connection.

I don’t think that has to be the case. And hey, I spend an enormous amount of time posting and cross-posting etc. But I think if we could just turn down the overall volume, maybe we would make things easier for ourselves.
