hi Ken — I’m not going to try to respond point by point to all your comments, but I did want to tackle this one, because it gets at the heart of what this letter is trying to do, as well as its limitations. The tech community is an eclectic group of people — and I’m sure if you spoke to everyone who signed this letter, you’d get very different answers to the “how to do it” question. That’s exactly why we need a public conversation about ride services and other on-demand businesses, rather than just throwing open the doors. The point of this letter is to ask for that conversation, and to make it clear that the tech community does not stand united in welcoming Uber et al to Vancouver with no strings attached, even if some people in the tech community would like to do so.
